Six Day Chianti Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Florence – Radda in Chianti
• 9 A.M. Meet bike fitting, route brief and safety instruction at Florence By Bike, Tuscany’s premier rental center. To view these professionally maintained rentals please visit www.florencebybike.com choose hybrid, road or mountain bike (men’s or women’s frame available) • Van transfer to town of Impruneta. • Ride Profile: This is a classic route taking in the famous Strada in Chianti (Road in Chianti). While our team sets up the bikes explore the Piazza of Impruneta, (the “Città del Cotto”) where the tiles for Florence’s Duomo were created. Leaving Impruneta on bike we access Strada in Chianti and it’s rolling hills, passing vineyards and olive groves. • Lunch stop with our good friend Tina (top local wine & cheese gourmet) at Café Le Logge. After lunch optional ride or van transfer to Radda in Chianti . • Hotel: check in at Palazzo Leopoldo, (Four Star). This very beautiful classic Tuscan residence has been perfectly restored. This historic residence offers standard, deluxe and junior suite accommodations. • Note: For your comfort we ask that guests participating in this tour arrive in Florence one day prior to tour start. Should you require an overnight stay in Florence just let us know, we have a wide array of top quality lodgings to choose from. As for activities, guided walking tours, cooking courses, outlet shopping trips to name a few are all available upon request
Day 2: Radda in Chianti
• Loop ride of area including Gaiole in Chianti, with stop at world famous ceramics manufacturer, Rampini (shipping to your home available), followed by a visit to Castello Brolio, Enoteca Del Castello Di Brolio. • Ride Profile: Moderate, rolling hills approximately 30 kilometers. • Overnight Radda in Chianti
• Cooking Class: Optional afternoon cooking class at your hotel. Learn the simple art of classic Tuscan cooking and enjoy the fruits of your labour!
Day 3: Radda – Siena
• A.M. Check Out Palazzo Leopoldo; • Ride to Castellina in Chianti, with time to sightsee, shop and explore this classic Tuscan village, then back on bikes for a ride to San Donato in Poggio for lunch and private guided wine tasting tour, weather permitting tour of vineyard by Classic Jeep at Podere La Cappella* . This is a privately owned up and coming small vineyard producing 4 varieties, Chianti Classico, Reserve and two “Super Tuscans” (Merlot and Merlot-Sangiovese). The wine is outstanding, this vineyard produces wine for the Vatican. You can purchase directly from them, shipping to your home available. Lunch is prepared for you by the owner’s in their kitchen. • Ride Profile: Moderate, rolling hills with one small climb, approximately 45 kilometers. • Van & Luggage transfer to Siena. • Hotel: check in, Grand Hotel Continental (5 star) Siena’s premier luxury hotel located in the very heart of Siena. This hotel is listed in the “Leading Hotels of the World”. You will be in the heart of Siena, near the Piazza del Campo, the Duomo and the city’s most exclusive shopping district. Day 4: Siena
• Loop ride of area including towns of CASTELNUOVO BERARDENGA - RAPOLANO TERME - ASCIANO. Visit the hot springs at Rapolano • Ride Profile: Moderate, flat, rolling hills, approximately 55 kilometers. • Cooking Class: Optional afternoon cooking class at your hotel. • Overnight Siena
Day 5: Siena
• Loop ride of area including medieval castle town of Monteriggioni. • Ride Profile: Moderate, rolling hills, approximately 40 kilometers • Overnight Siena
Day 6: Siena
• A.M. Check out • Van transfer to Florence • Bike return • Tour Concluded
