Regional Overview
Of all the countries of the world, none is more magical than Italy. There is something to tantalize everyone’s fancy. In a recent poll, Tuscany, and its capital Florence, were identified as the most visited areas of Italy. More visitors flock to Florence than to Rome or Venice. Florence is a repository of a significant amount of magnificent Renaissance art works by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Raphael and other masters. Florence’s chief landmark is the great Duomo that looms over the heart of the city. Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, is where great art and architecture whisper the history of the ages.
The beautiful Chianti countryside is world renowned for production of its great wines. As we travel you will enjoy the peacefulness of the region, the verdant landscapes and the medieval towns that dot the area.
Siena is the second most important city in Tuscany. It is a picturesque city with narrow streets, medieval buildings of rose-colored brick and steeped in history and tradition. Visit the Piazza del Campo, Italy’s finest medieval square, and do not miss the 12th century Duomo, it is one of Italy’s most astounding cathedrals.
